An Giang Province lies in the Mekong Delta in the southwestern part of Vietnam sharing a 95 kilometer border with Cambodia in the north west. The main ethnic groups found in the province are the Kinh, Khmer, Cham, and Hoa. An Giang is crisscrossed by many rivers and canals which make a convenient water transport system. The two tributarie of the Mekong river, the Tien and the Hau, run across the Province. They deliver millions of cubic meters of alluvium annually to the region. As a result, the deposits have formed several islets which are extremely fertile and covered with lush green vegetation. An Giang has long been famous for its traditional occupation of mulberry growing, silkworm raising and silk weaving.

The very poor children of ‘B’ An Phu Primary School in Tinh Bien District - An Giang Province has a toilet block that is utterly unusable. It is flooded, very unhygienic and inoperative. The 114 students and 9 teachers are facing a serious and precarious risk to their health.

60% of families in this hamlet are rated as ‘poor households’ (average income per month is US$19) and many children are undernourished. The area is mountainous, remote and populated by many Khmer families who are struggling farmers.

Loreto Kids Charity will build a brand new toilet block for the students and teachers of ‘B' An Phu Primary School with sanitized sewerage/water systems and wash basins. This asset for the school will certainly improve the health of all concerned and be a great boost to the kids development in Health Education.
